Protruding front teeth: bringing them back into line

When the upper front teeth stick out noticeably, this is known as protruding front teeth (protrusion). It's not just an aesthetic issue – protruding teeth are also more prone to injury. With clear aligners, we move them back into line in a controlled way.

What causes protruding front teeth?

Predisposition: The position of your teeth is largely inherited.
Childhood habits: Thumb-sucking or using a dummy for a long time shapes the dental arches.
Tongue thrust: The tongue constantly pushes against the front teeth when you swallow.
Lack of space: Teeth move forwards when there isn't enough space at the sides.

Why protruding front teeth should be treated

Higher risk of injury: Protruding front teeth are particularly at risk in falls and during sport.
Lip closure & mouth breathing: Pronounced protrusion can make it harder to close your lips naturally.
Wear and incorrect loading: The teeth don't meet where they should when you bite.
Self-confidence: Hardly any other misalignment feels so noticeable.

Our honesty promise

If the protrusion is caused by a pronounced jaw misalignment, the case belongs in the hands of a specialist orthodontist. Your free diagnostic appointment will show you honestly what aligners can achieve for you – and what they can't.

Frequently asked questions about protruding front teeth

Can my bite problem be treated with invisible aligners?

We successfully treat mild and moderate cases every day – protruding front teeth, underbites and open bites at the front are among the most common SayCheeese cases. Complex jaw misalignments belong in a specialist orthodontic practice – and we'll tell you that honestly.

How long does treatment take?

Depending on severity, between about 14 weeks (SayCheeese easy) and 28 weeks (SayCheeese sensitive). The exact treatment time is determined during your free diagnostic appointment with 3D scan and X-ray.

How do I know whether my case is suitable?

Through the full orthodontic diagnostics at your free initial consultation: 3D scan, X-ray and a personal assessment by our dentists – free, no-obligation and honest.

How much does it cost to treat protruding front teeth?

With SayCheeese easy, treatment starts at €1,580 for one jaw (€1,980 for both jaws); for moderate cases with SayCheeese sensitive, it's €2,280 or €2,980 respectively. You'll know the fixed price before treatment begins, and if you pay in instalments, you can start from €32 per month – this applies to the smallest package with a term of up to 60 months.

Can protruding front teeth still be corrected as an adult?

Yes, our aligners are suitable for adults of any age – whether you're 20 or 60, and even if your teeth have only shifted over the years. The prerequisite is a healthy mouth: tooth decay or gum problems should be treated before you start – we'll check your oral health at your free consultation too.
